Thursday night at the Arts And Crafts pop up shop space at Queen and Dovercourt, the Toronto record label continued their ten year anniversary with a celebration of photographer Norman Wong’s prolific work over the years with their artists.
Portraits and polaroids of such noted artists as Feist, Stars, The Darcys, Broken Social Scene (many of Brendan Canning), Timber Timbre, Jason Collett, ZEUS, TRUST, and The Constantines lined the walls of the bright industrial space.
Towards the back of the gallery a floor to ceiling collage of photos impressed and occupied many while framed Polaroids from years past gave a more candid behind the scenes look into festivals and tours. A pop up shop in front featured vinyl, tour posters, Field Trip Festival merch, and a limited edition line of tee’s Jeremy Laing created in collaboration with a team of visual artists inspired by select A&C bands.
We’ve always been big fans of Norman Wong’s work over the years, but seeing it all in one room, surrounded and admired by many of the artists included in the retrospective like Brendan Canning, Leslie Feist, and Cold Specks, was really quite something.
