Popular wireless home entertainment system Sonos has announced the brand’s first foray into the portable headphones market with an over-the-ear set called Sonos Ace. They sport a very clean, slim (for over-the-ear headphones) silhouette that aesthetically blends metal with matte plastics for a very premium look that definitely competes with Apple. The Sonos Ace features a real physical button for that tactile feel; they can fold for storage and transportation and come with a lightweight travel case.
The Sonos Ace features a custom-designed driver, active noise-cancelling technology, and transparency modes. It has an apparent 30-hour battery life for extended usage and built-in beamforming microphones to enable clear and crisp communication during calls. Featuring a “pillowy soft” foam wrapped in vegan leather for the ear cups that gives what the brand calls a “wearing nothing” feeling.
The new Sonos Ace headphones launch June 5 and will be available in ‘Black’ and ‘Soft White’. They can be pre-ordered via the brand’s website now for approximately $449 USD/$599 CAD
