What I Wore | Osheaga 2012, Day 1

After a super hippie chic arrival at the Osheaga Hotel in Montreal I decided to tone down the boho and layer on the tribal for  a more put together look on the first and hottest day of the festival. I always expect the dreaded sand and gravel pits throughout the festivel, so I thought this Sam & Lavi shorter dress from Bicyclette Boutique would be better suited for the dryer of all three days.

I loved the print when I saw it in store last week and thought it would be the perfect piece for running around in with the addition of a few other pieces from Bicyclette Boutique. The pattern front is neatly off-set by the deep v-back panel of persimmon cotton, and I thought it looked best belted with an old vintage leather woven belt I found a while back in New York.

I layered the neck line starting with this beautiful Katra Biko necklace, a Tara Ross NY turquoise and gold necklace, and my mom’s vintage pink jade rosette charm. I had a bona fide arm party going on all day long with a couple of lacquered gold bangles from Bicyclette Boutique, my favourite vintage timex, a J.Crew red beaded necklace wound into a bracelet, a Biko modern friendship bracelet, and couple of neon braided bracelets with gold accents also from Bicyclette Boutique.

My bag of choice was, as always, by Deadly Ponies. I chose the Mr. Mohalk box in midnight blue because I love the fun wool oversized tassels and how they picked up the blue accents in the printed dress. It also fit my small collection of camera equipment which I need to access easily all day, so it can’t be lost in some frumpy high tech backpack like most photographers carry.

On my feet, which were mighty dirty by the end of the day, I wore my favrouite patent leather New Kid Elma Neat shoes to give some protection from all the gravel and sandiness. Everybody’s feet get dirty at the festival, but I really like these because they’re fully leather inside, so they won’t leave your feet smelling by the end of the day, and the patent outers can be wiped clean with a bit of water.

Last but not least, the most essential item to keep me from squinting all day, a simple pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers in tortoise.

See a few close up’s below and stay tuned for day two’s outfit tomorrow!
