Japanese Post Rock outfit Mono returned to Toronto’s Lee’s Palace on Tuesday night. The four piece took to the stage in dim red light, and without a word of introduction slowly delved into their incredibly beautiful, complex songs. Most Mono songs follow a certainly formula, namely loud-quiet-loud, but it is an incredibly effective one, as the crescendo would arrive, and all four of the musicians would launch into the heaviest bits you could still hear every note coming together into one gorgeous arrangement. Over the course of a seven song set list they proved just how tight a band they are, and how impressive they operated as a unit.
