I’m feeling a little unseasonably grinchy these days. Maybe it’s the ridiculous commercial gluttony the holidays bring in waves, or maybe it’s because it’s Christmas eve day and it hasn’t snowed yet.
If you’re loyal follower of my style series, you’ll know I’m pretty into colour and I rarely wear all black. So I wanted to share my Christmas eve look with you, which is pretty unlike my last few looks, composed of primarily black items with just a touch of a holiday jewel tone.
I started building this look with the Obey Crosby dress which is a gorgeous shirt-dress with cool off cut draping perfect for warmer winter days. About to go full on black, I resisted the urge to put on black stockings underneath, instead opting for this gorgeous opaque burgundy pair that coordinated so perfectly with my Mackage backpack. I layered on a limited edition Weeknd x Roots varsity jacket that’s been on my hit list for a while now. I’m wearing a medium here, which I like because it’s warmer for winter and the Buffalo leather arms aren’t so long that it’s uncomfortable or awkward.
My new go-to footwear of choice for the season is the sneaker boot, particularly these burgundy suede ones that are just flashy enough to feel somewhat seasonal without lighting up or being too metallic. I’ve been trying to track them down in the army green colour-way unsuccessfully so I’m settling (not really, I frigging love these boots) for the burgundy pair for now till I score the others down when I’m back in New York in January.
I accessorized the look with a lumpy slouchy Obey hat, my Mackage backpack, and my favourite new Wild Moon necklace which I pretty much wear everyday.
Hopefully by the time Christmas rolls around I’ll be feeling the holiday colour, but for now I’m staying grumpy in the six. xo
