Review: Nikon D7100 + 18-105 VR Kit

Osheaga was a time. A time that needed to be documented, by taking photos. The Nikon camera that we brought along for our music festival adventure was the D7100.

The D7100 was all kinds of perfect for snapping sets what with the impeccable auto-focus 51 point focus system – those musicians can move mighty fast you know. Other features like the fantastic low-light performance were key when it came to shooting dimly lit bands trying to keep up their mysterious image. The VR on the 18-105 kit lens also kept shots steady in the hectic crowds, reducing the vibrations for a clear still image versus ending up with a blurry photo.

Rain can ruin your festival experience, especially if you’re having to worry about a camera the whole time. It only rained a little bit during out trip but luckily the D7100 has some crazy good weather and dust sealing, so we were totally worry free. DSLRs can tend to be very heavy but the D7100 wasn’t too clunky and instead was comfortable to carry around the grounds all day.

All in all the Nikon D7100 was a pretty awesome festival buddy. Professional and practical.
