Oregon folk punk band Larry & His Flask descended on the Horseshoe Tavern last night, bringing their sweaty, fantastic show with them. After a number of high profile opening slots over the past year, this was the bands first headline show in some time, while not full the front of The Horseshoe was a whirring mass of bodies and people incredibly excited to see the band. The band, while normally a five piece, was a man short for this show as one of their members has persistent border issues, however the show didn’t suffer through it.
Their extensive set list drew heavily from all parts of their career, including a number of new tracks. Opening up the night was Vancouver’s Good For Grapes, the six piece put on a highly energetic and terrific set, definitely catch them if you have the chance to. Up first was Toronto Blues-Folk band The Old Salts, who despite having to warm up a still arriving crowd, gave it their all and sounded great.
