Live Music: Modern Baseball at The Hard Luck, Toronto

Modern Baseball-1

American emo group Modern Baseball took over The Hard Luck in Toronto last night. With sing along choruses and a group of fans that seemed to know every word, and wasted no time going crazy in the small, packed room. The four piece traded off vocals throughout the set, each singer bringing something different to the set. It didn’t take long before the entire room was drenched in sweat, and it’s hard to believe anyone went home disappointed.

They had tough competition even from their openers, with the fantastic Brooklyn punk band I Am The Avalanche opening up the show, and getting the hesitant crowd moving in no time. Led by former The Movielife frontman Vinnie Caruana, and with help with a few enthusiastic fans the band ripped through tracks from their 3 albums. Philadelphia band Beach Slang also put on a great set, however they had trouble motivating any action from the youthful crowd.
