Kendrick Lamar just dropped a video for his newest single “ELEMENT.”
Directed by Jonas Lindstroem and the Little Homies, the visual features a handful of stunning images to accompany the standout DAMN. cut, written about Lamar’s ascent through many trials and tribulations to his current preeminence atop the hip-hop food chain. A burning house, people hopping out of a car and physical altercations are all used to personify certain lines within the song. The directors also drew heavy inspiration from Gordon Parks, a prominent US photojournalist who covered issues related to civil rights, poverty and African Americans. Certain frames in the video are direct replicas of photographs taken by Parks.
