After taking home the Golden Globe for Best Television Series in a Musical or Comedy for his hit program Atlanta, Donald Glover will now be bringing the wildly popular Marvel comic Deadpool from the silver screen to television audiences.
According to Entertainment Weekly, FXX (sister channel to FX, the network which airs Atlanta) has ordered ten episodes of an animated series based on the fan-favorite anti-hero. The yet-to-be-titled show is scheduled to air sometime in 2018.
Glover is staying incredibly active since winning his Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. He’s set to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the untitled Star Wars Han Solo anthology film, and Jon Favreau’s The Lion King. Under his artist name Childish Gambino, Glover also released an album titled “Awaken, My Love!” late last year. His hectic agenda has caused the second season of Altanta to be postponed until early 2018.
There’s also a sequel to the Deadpool film scheduled for release in 2018. Although unrelated to the television series, the success of the first film (grossing $760 million worldwide) surely helped to convince executives with this purchasing decision.
