On the forth night of CMF, CHARTattack hosted an amazing line up of entirely Canadian bands at the packed, and always sweaty Horseshoe Tavern.
The incredible (and hairy) Yukon Blonde‘s from Vancouver kicked off the showcase playing their west coast brand of indie rock with unparalleled ease that is often compared to Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes. Their decidedly more folk influenced neighbours, The Beauties, followed with a strong and energetic set that hinted at a country sound.
Toronto favourites The Balconies and The Wooden Sky played equally powerful sets, that were undeniably the highlight of the showcase, even though our Red Bull buzz didn’t take us through to see Two Hours Traffic, The Junction, and The Stanfields.
Be sure to look up Yukon Blonde, The Wooden Sky, and The Balconies (see them live in May at the Steam Whistle Unsigned show), as we’re certain you’ll dig them all!
