Last week tech giant Sony, officially gave the first comprehensive look at their upcoming next-generation gaming console, the PlayStation 5. During Sony’s The Future of Gaming event on June 11, the company revealed the console design, the upcoming game line-up and more. It was also announced that the PS5’s will come in two versions, a fully Digital Edition which is a slightly smaller, all-digital console without a disc drive, and one that will come with a 4K Blu-ray player disc drive. This will be Sony’s first foray into the world of fully digital based gaming consoles and no physical media. The fully redesigned system comes with a fully redesigned DualSense PS5 controller, which includes haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a built-in mic. It’s pretty sweet all around.
Sony also revealed 28 new games, nine of which come from Sony’s own studios and will be exclusive to PS5 like Horizon Forbidden West and a remake of Demon’s Souls.
Sony hasn’t revealed the PS5 price or release date yet but we do know that it is expected to release holiday season of this year. Get even more familiar with the next generation of console gaming by watching the launch video below. It’s worth the time!
