The Shout Out Louds are a Swedish quintet make music that always touches my heart. Well here they go again with their latest offering “Walls” off of their forthcoming third album Work. Work is currently being recorded and worked on in Seattle under the production supervision of Phil Ek, best known for his work with Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Modest Mouse. I enjoy this single, it is of the usual Shout Out Louds standard of fun, and heartfelt rock, but seems to be tapered down, and streamlined a touch under the supervision of Ek.
Which is not necessarily a bad thing. Take a look at the video, directed by Shout Out Louds bassist Ted Malmros (who has a pretty solid portfolio of directorial credits including Lykke Li “I’m Good, I’ Gone,” and Peter Bjorn and John “Young Folks”) and plays more like a behind-the-scenes documentary, then that of a music video.
Work will be released in early 2010.
