Just as New York Fashion Week is starting, Saint Laurent Paris’ Hedi Slimane showed his Fall 2016 collection in Los Angeles instead, just days before the GRAMMYs. Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Lucky Blue Smith, Lenny Kravitz, CL, and more descended upon the Hollywood Palladium to see Slimane’s rock-inspired collection.
According to the fashion house, Slimane went back to his “signature style pieces and principles,” recalling his Fall 2005 glam collection for Dior Homme and his 2013 Psych Rock collection. The consolidation of these resulted in clean sharp silhouettes, handmade embroidery, imperial and military themed pieces, and tons of gold and sequins. 71 models and musicians wore 93 “mostly unisex” pieces while 13 bands took the stage. Slimane celebrated the 50th anniversary of Saint Laurent Rive Gauche by using historic Rive Gauche prints.
