Fall season is upon us and like most of us you’re enjoying the colours and maybe even the break in temperature. Maybe you’re also feeling a little drab or glum because the summer is over, and winter is just around the corner. If that’s you, then maybe a good way to get the spring in your step back is to consider a personal appearance makeover (PAM). This could include things like changing up your wardrobe, getting back to the gym, stocking up on face care products or visiting your dentist to update your smile.
There are lots of things you can include but if you’re not sure what to do, here’s a list of the top 5 ways to pump up your look this fall.
Get active
The summer heat is gone and so are all the excuses to neglect exercise. There was a lot happening, from socializing with friends, travel vacations, and the like but now you might have a bit more time on your hands. What better way to put those extra hours to good use than to focus on getting active.
We recommend a daily walk or run while the weather is still nice (and not so hot). Getting back to the gym is also a great way to rekindle your energy levels and start building your beach body for next year. Think about it like this, getting started now means that you’ll have a head start come April/May next year. You’ll also be better equipped to metabolize the holiday food you’re likely to be enjoying in a couple months time.
Visit a tanning salon
Just because the beach days are over for the year doesn’t mean you need to revert back to looking like a vampire that hides from the sun. Hit Google to find out where your local tanning salon is located and make a plan to visit weekly or even once a month. Not only will your complexion stay looking great, but you’ll be also helping to fight off the low light blues by picking up some much needed vitamin D when you’d otherwise be lacking. There’s no need to overdo it, because let’s be honest, no one likes leathery skin, but a few sessions throughout won’t hurt and you’ll feel all the better for it.
Work on your posture
Posture is something that is so often neglected these days – what with our desk jobs and time spent on our phones scrolling through social media. It’s well known that not only does bad (hunched) posture contribute to things like back pain and sleep problems, it’s also not a great look in terms of your physical appearance. Make an effort to sit up straight, keep your head back and walk with a casual authority. Booking a few sessions with a physiotherapist or personal trainer to help you understand which exercises can help keep you properly upright is a great idea. It not only gives you a good reason to stay active, it will also make you appear more confident and make a great first impression.
Book an appointment with your dentist
Summer was busy and you may not have had to time to get into the dentist office for a cleaning appointment. No more excuses! Now is the time! Dental cleaning and checkup appointments are absolutely necessary for your oral health, and they’ll help your smile look its best too. If you want to take things a step further, consult your dentist about teeth whitening options, or even a set of veneers, to really push your smile to the next level. A bright smile is magnetic, and you’ll feel more confident knowing you’ve got a nice set of pearly whites to flash when you want to make a great impression. With Christmas just around the corner, you might be seeing people you haven’t been around in a while which means you’ll want to be looking your best.
Update your wardrobe
Let the fashionista in you loose and embrace the fall season with a new and temperature appropriate wardrobe. Pack away the beach wear and opt for some stylish long sleeves and pants that will keep you warm as it gets chilly, while you look amazing doing it. Consider things like a bomber or leather jacket for casual nights on the town or look ahead to winter with a proper down filled coat. Now is the time to make sure your closet isn’t lacking and that you’re ready for the cold weather.
Obviously, there are many more things you can do to get your look ready for fall and winter season, but these five ideas are a great start to get you on the right track.
