Frank Turner brought his band the Sleeping Souls to a packed house at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall for a triumphant display of just how far he’s come in this city. In the midst of a massive Canadian tour, filled with some of his biggest shows to date, he brought a lengthy setlist with highlights from throughout his career. At this point the Sleeping Souls are a finely tuned machine, and it shows as they filled out the large Danforth stage, and had just as much presence as the hugely charismatic Turner. While he started off as a solo artist, Turner has grown into his role as the front man of a stellar rock outfit, even throwing in a half-joking cover of Motorheads “Ace of Spades” at one point.
Excellent opening sets by Mo Kenney, as well as the always stellar Northcote helped to warm the crowd up. Matt Goud from Northcote, who may be the nicest man on the planet, took every chance to talk to and encourage the crowd, all the while jamming through a great set.
