Vampire Weekend took to a beautiful stage complete with vintage floral backdrop a huge mirror, and excellent lighting yesterday at Osheaga as the sun set over the main stage. Girls at the front of the barrier were crying with excitement and many brave souls crowd surfed while getting pelted with the hose manned by an unsympathetic security guard. They played all of their new album Modern Vampires of the City as well as many hits from 2010’s Contra and their self titled debut from back in 2008, and the crowd sang along at the top of their lungs to “Holiday,” “Cousins,” and “Giving Up The Gun”.
This being their second Osheaga after playing a much more subdued set back in 2009 in the rain, lead vocalists Ezra Koenig even remarked how wonderful the Montreal weather was during the set calling it “the perfect day.”
Take a look through our photos below and be sure to watch our vine as well.
