New Music: Dirty Beaches ‘Bandlands’ + Tour Dates

Montreal’s Dirty Beaches really stumps all the lo-fiers out there at the moment, opting for super-low production in a slightly soulful rockabilly kind of way.

His sound, which is described as minimalist, brings to mind the a more mellow and steady Beach Boys, mixed with Velvet Underground and vocals slightly reminiscent of GIRLS vocalist Christopher Owen’s deep mournful lines. Featuring eight unreleased tracks, the new limited edition 12″ vinyl due out on March 29th via Zoo Music, is full of distortion, echoey vocals and general noise. As well, the first track will be available for free to those who sign up for the labels mailing list here upon the albums release.

Dirty Beaches will be taking off on tour with Dum Dum Girls and Crocodiles next week, opening for Dum Dum Girls in Toronto with MINKS on February 26th at El Mocambo. Check out the video for “True Blue” along with the 12″ tracklisting below.
