New Balance has teamed up with American brand and frequent collaborators J.Crew to celebrate the historic event of the Apollo 11 mission, which put the first human on the moon in 1969. The lunar-inspired sneaker is set on the New Balance 997 silhouette and features an off-white suede, meant to resemble the surface of the Moon, while hits of dark leather and blue mesh meant to approximate the vacuum of outer space. The sneakers sit atop of a white midsole which also features contrasting navy. To add extra oomph, the shoes come in a cool vacuum packaging.
The shoes will drop on July 20, the anniversary of the moon landing, at select J.Crew locations and www.jcrew.com.
