The FADER has announced the first of two artists that they have chosen to grace the cover of their 100th issue. In his first extended interview in almost two years, and hot off the release of his surprise mixtape with Future, Drake will appear on the cover of The FADER. The interview took place in his hometown of Toronto, and was done by writer Leon Neyfakh and photographed by Mark Pecmezian and JJ. Throughout the interview Drake talked about a variety of things, including his clash with Meek Mill, his relationship with his fans, and for the first time he talks about the ghostwriting allegations and reference records that came out this summer.
“I need, sometimes, individuals to spark an idea so that I can take off running. I don’t mind that. And those recordings—they are what they are. And you can use your own judgment on what they mean to you…If I have to be the vessel for this conversation to be brought up—you know, God forbid we start talking about writing and references and who takes what from where—I’m OK with it being me… It’s just, music at times can be a collaborative process, you know? Who came up with this, who came up with that—for me, it’s like, I know that it takes me to execute every single thing that I’ve done up until this point. And I’m not ashamed.”
The 100th issue of The FADER will hit newstands on October 27th, with the cover story being available online at The Fader’s site, and you can catch the behind the scenes video above.
