On the first day of Pitchfork Music Festival we had the pleasure of sneaking a few minutes with Canadian indie pop dup Majical Cloudz after a packed show at Lincoln Hall the night before in Chicago. Devon Welsh and Matthew Otto are an enlightened couple of musical dudes and we were excited to hear what answers they would have for our style-related questions.
The results were as awkward as you’d expect. Give our five minute Q&A a read below.
Sidewalk Hustle: Where are you from?
Matthew Otto: We’re from Montreal.
SH: Who or what are you wearing?
MO: I’m wearing jeans, that are ripped a little bit and a tank top of some sort. This [necklace] is a horse, a gift that a friend gave me, it’s a horse necklace that’s hanging from a string. I’m not really sure what kind of material this is, it’s like steel or metal probably.
Devon Welsh: I’m wearing black Red Wings, black Levi non-jean pants, dress pants or whatever, a white Fruit of the Loom undershirt, and a belt that a borrowed from my roommate and never returned it.
SH: Who is your favourite designer?
MO: I don’t know.
DW: I’m completely removed from the world of fashion.
SH: What is on repeat for you right now?
MO: I’ve actually been listening to a lot of Radiohead, but that’s just been like over the last day.
DW: Smashing Pumpkins, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and Adore. I’ve been listening to “Perfect” a lot.
SH: Pitchfork Festival Picks?
MO: Bjork.
DW: Yeah, I want to see Bjork, I’m not sure who’s headlining tomorrow night, but I’d like to see Solange.
