The Toronto International Film Festival has officially arrived and our city is already buzzing with glamour and star dust! Aside from the films and the celebrities, fashion gets us pretty excited since it plays such a big role each year at the festival. We’ve partnered with our friends at Hudson’s Bay, who are a yearly sponsor, to bring a couple of our festival fashion finds to life.
I selected one look for a cocktail party and another casual one which would be perfect to wear to see a film or at more intimate party. I always like to make sure I keep in mind glamour and drama, even if an event is on the more casual scale, and I usually achieve this with a bold colour, print or texture. In the first look below, I fell in love with this incredible full Maje skirt which packs a lot of drama because of its length while still feeling somewhat casual. I paired it with a simple cream Sandro top with an elegant ruffled high neck and open back, as well as a long yet fine Michael Kors necklace, a few Marc By Marc Jacobs bracelets, a pair of Vince blue suede pumps, and an incredible dusty blue leather Furla bag.
For the second more glamorous look, I choose an Alice + Olivia dress with a plunging neck line; leave it to tasteful cleavage to kick your TIFF look into high gear! I’d probably wear this look to a more formal large scale event like the InStyle Party or an opening night premiere. Since the dress was the centre point of the look, it didn’t need much in the way of accessorizing, so I chose a Marc By Marc Jacobs gold necklace to sit just above the dramatic slit in the dress. Adding a pop of colour and texture with an amazing pair of sandals from Burberry and a woven leather clutch from Loeffler Randall to complete the look.
