Festival season is officially in full swing! Weather you’re in Toronto heading to Field Trip, Bestival or WayHome, or in New York for Governors Ball later this week, it’s time to start thinking about what you’ll be wearing! As a festival vet myself I always prefer to take the less conventional route of dress, so leave your floral crowns at home, opt for on-trend metallic temporary tattoos instead, and head on over to your local Winners location!
Prints are always a hot commodity around festival season, but the all-over florals are feeling a little tired at this point, so it’s best to opt for more graphic and modern abstract style prints or even paisleys.
Lately I’ve been loving paisley so when I found this elegant Cynthia Rowley silk tunic dress at Winners on Bloor Street in Toronto in the off the runway section, I was pretty pumped. The cut is so flattering for long days in the sun, and the solid colour blocks of the print exude an understated elegance atypical to regular festival dress. It’s also light and airy and pairs perfectly with an acid wash denim jacket, and a floppy hat for that little hint of bohemian soul.
One thing I always wear to festival season is flatforms so naturally when I heard Winners had a massive stock pile of them, I made sure to troll the shoe section for weeks. Flatforms are great for festivals because they keep your feet clean and away from the grass (or mud) while giving you that extra height you always need in a big crowd. I found these awesome monochrome foam sandals from Shellys London that are some comfortable you’ll never want to take them off. Another essential item for festival season is a simple backpack to keep all your survival goods safely inside weather you’re having a drink or dancing, you can always go hands free. I completed my festival look with some simple accessories: a stack of bangles, delicate gold rings, and a couple of layered necklaces.
