Toronto-based textile designer and illustrator Virginia Johnson’s Spring 2015 collection is earthy, bohemian and reminiscent of California days. The designs in her dresses, shirts and shorts feature English roses, California trees and tribal palms. Everything to get you in the mood for summer strolls.
Johnson transitions her drawings and paintings into clothing and housewares. The Spring collection was inspired by Johnson’s trip to California where she inspired by the easy outdoor natural life. She took to her sketchbook to draw a cactus along the side of the road, and flowers in the Huntington Library garden. Her hikes in the Santa Monica Mountains inspired open-weave cactus tunics and boxy daytime dresses like the Sophia dress.
This collection is a mixture of contrasting elements, loose with structured and florals with graphic prints.
