Squirrelled away in an area of Los Angeles rarely visited by people who weren’t working in industrial shipping, or until recently, looking for a trendy meal, sits the newest member of the Soho House family, Soho Warehouse. Occupying a former warehouse itself, as the name implies, the original structure of the new house dates back to 1916, just a stone’s throw away from the LA River. Soho Warehouse is not only the largest of all the houses in North America, but also those most vibey. Located South of the Arts District near Downtown Los Angeles, Soho Warehouse is part of an overall revitalization project that’s taking place in the area. There are fantastic restaurants like Bestia, Guerrilla Taco, & Bon Temps within walking distance, as well as coffee shops like Maru (one of our favourites), dispensaries and grocery stores.

This is the third house in the LA area (after West Hollywood and Malibu) and the closest to the ideal Soho House experience you can get. Unlike the other two West Coast houses, Warehouse built in 48 bedrooms, a rooftop pool, and a spacious gym. The house also features two club floors and a lovely garden restaurant. While all these features of the house are key to the overall experience, it’s the guest rooms that are most important to us, as travellers.

Since it’s Los Angeles, the rooms are spacious, even the smaller rooms at Warehouse are comparable to the largest rooms in houses like Barcelona or New York. They range in size from cozy to large and feature original exposed brickwork and a mix of 1920s and 1970s-style furnishings, inspired by the building’s beginnings and its time as a recording studio. The larger the room, the more amenities you get. If you‘re staying for a while, then opt for the large room which features a kitchenette that’s more kitchen than ette, a living room space, a gracious bed, and two bathrooms.

The bathroom is fully stocked with every single thing you might need for a quick overnight stay or extended getaway including the entire range of Cowshed products. For those staying in the large room, you‘ll find a gorgeous freestanding bathtub as well as a spacious walk-in tiled shower . The amenities found at Soho Houses across the world are without a doubt the best a hotel can offer. We’re talking everything from razors to q-tips, condoms to mouth wash, plus Cowshed skincare products (including natural deodorant). Honestly, once you stay the night you might find it hard to leave.

With the complimentary cocktail hour drink cart that makes hallway rounds from 5-8pm every night, staying at Soho Warehouse is a luxurious experience unlike any other in the city. If cocktails aren’t your vibe, there are always fresh cookies, Nespresso machine, cold pressed juice, and plenty of soft bar items in the room, not to mention plenty of snacks, plus room service just the same as you’d have on the club floor. As we are all civilized adults here, there is no inflated room service cost to the food, everything is the same price, with a minor delivery fee, but come on, that’s more than reasonable. So make sure you grab yourself the world-famous Dirty Burger or choose from a selection of favourites from other Soho House’s around the world.
Although Soho House is a private member club you don’t need to be a member to stay at the house. Simply book your stay and receive temporary membership benefits during your stay. This includes all the fun music, arts, and wellness programming that takes place across house and access to the rooftop pool. While cruising the house, be sure to keep your eyes open for all the art spread throughout the building including a mural by Shepard Fairey at the entrance of the building, feminist wallpaper by LA artist Genevieve Gaignard, and the 18-by-6-foot acrylic mural by LA’s own Paul Davies on the top floor.
