Portland based eyewear company Shwood, is best known for their handcrafted wooden glasses made from exotic hardwoods. However, they have decided to try something a little different with their Stone Collection for 2013. As the name implies, the glasses in this collection are made using stone. For the special collection, the Portland-based label tapped a German engineering firm to combine millimeter-thick slices of slate stone to build the frames. Fusing genuine slate with premium Birch wood, the new Stone Collection is the companies most innovative product yet. Hand-poured pewter inlays complete the look, striking the perfect balance between rugged and refined. Each pair comes packaged with a custom felt pouch with embroidered leather patch and is 100% UVA/UVB protection Carl Zeiss lenses imported from Italy. The collection is extremely limited with only 200 pairs being made. You can shop the collection at here.
