We had a little getaway to Los Angeles earlier this month to cover the premier of the film I Am Number Four, calling the Mondrian in West Hollywood our home away from home for a few days.
Our first impression of the hotel was rather romantic in design breezing through the quietly modern yet quirky lobby past ADCB Lounge which housed the SPiN Ping Pong lounge and up to our suite in the elevator complete with video art installation.
We stayed in one of the hotels Deluxe Suite’s with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the West Hollywood strip and downtown Los Angeles. The room featured a king-size bed graced by cute card with words by American writer Thomas L. Masson (in leu of the outdated turn-down), an oversized sofa and lounge area, a rotating LCD TV that transitioned into a mirror when off, a workspace with elegant privacy curtains, closet, wet bar, and of course a monsoon shower complete with yummy products from Korres.
We enjoyed the spectacular view from the hotel’s restaurant Asia De Cuba at midday, late night cocktailing between drunken games of Ping Pong in the SPiN lounge, and though we didn’t manage to make it up to the rooftop Skybar, due to the rather chilly February temperatures during our stay, we’ll be sure to check it out on our next visit.
