A few weeks ago my friends at Chevrolet Canada lent me a 2012 Cruze to take with to Hillside Music Festival in Guelph. My borrowed friend for the weekend came fully equipped with OnStar and Sirius Satellite Radio making it very road trip friendly. After making record time getting out of Toronto, which also included a detour and a routing error which was corrected by a quick call to OnStar we made it to Guelph.
Since the festival, all I have been thinking about is what amazing music I got to see and hear. In the spirit of good times I thought I would run through my festival highlights.
Maylee Toddhas been playing up a storm lately. This pint sized dynamo had the Friday afternoon crowd in the palm of her hands. By merely jumping off stage and encouraging everyone to dance it started the weekend off just right.
The Arkells closed down the main stage on Friday night with one of the most charismatic and energetic sets I have ever seen them play. Including a tribute to one of their main influences the Constantines, it was quite something to hear everyone around me screaming “Nightime Anytime” at the top of their lungs.
The weekend festivities continued with epic sets from Zeus and Rich Aucoin, each awesome in their own right, playing to a packed Island stage.
The weather was questionable all weekend prompting me to consider abandoning my leaky tent and seek refuge in my snazzy weekend ride. Nevertheless the weather cleared up and car camping wasn’t necessary.
My Cruze for the weekend was the perfect zippy road trip vehicle. With Sirius pumping out good tunes and directions available at the push of a button, I made it to Guelph and back on less than a tank of gas, which absolutely astounded me. Given the price of gas these days it was a pleasant surprise to see how far the Cruze could go without a heading to the pumps.
Thanks once again to Chevrolet Canada for hooking a girl up!
