Young Thug is known for having a lot of creative control over his music videos, so it should come as no surprise that the new video for his Jeffery cut “Wyclef Jean” is unique – especially because Thug never even showed up to the shoot.
Co-directed by Ryan Staake of Brooklyn-based film studio Pomp&Clout (and obviously co-directed by Young Thug), the video for “Wyclef Jean” begins with a narrative from Staake explaining how he was supposed to direct a music video for Thug but quickly turns into a quirky visualization of Staake’s vision for the song and how he overcame obstacles to finish the video. Thug obviously liked the video because it was posted on his official YouTube channel.
Just watch.
