Live Music: Yeasayer & Sleigh Bells at Lee’s Palace

Last Saturday at Lee’s Brooklyn’s incredible force Yeasayer played a beyond sold out show in Toronto. After failing to upgrade the venue, opting for a more intimate show, they came out a tad early greeted by a crowd of their biggest fans.

Chris Keating drank sake, sang, and danced like nobodies business while Anand Wilder rocked his pipes and guitar in a camouflage onesie come painting suit! Starting off with “The Children” building into a decidedly Odd Blood heavy set with a few tracks off All Hour Cymbals, the freakin’ fabulous five played with rad intent while literally the entire crowd grooved out.

Brooklyn’s Sleigh Bells warmed up the crowd with their ear-drum thrashing tracks by duo Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller. Belting out the energetic lyrics, Alexis head-banged perfectly while shedding off layers of clothing eventually revealing a super-cool light up ring.

Overall, this is one of the best shows we’ve been at this year and will probably continue to top the list this year!

Special thanks to Cher who managed to snag the set list and take some super cool snaps for us!
