What I Wore: Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2013, Part 1

After jetting home on Sunday from New York to attend the opening night of World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto, I had little time to prepare something for the slightly colder weather of our fair city. Luckily when I came home yesterday a lovely package had arrived on my doorstep, containing a new pair of fall boots perfect for the occasion from Italy’s New Kid! After examining the Enid Stealth boots, composed of printed suede, smooth black calf leather, and double chain ball zip pullers, I decided mixing prints was in order for the fall evening.

I decided to play against the often-preppy brand totting crowd of the evening, opting for an uncommon, heavily vintage look, in light of Toronto’s vintage crawl, happening tonight! I chose this amazing gauzy pleated tribal skirt found at Pretty Freedom in Kensington which mimicked the textures in my super comfortable New Kid boots, to go along with my new favourite silk button down from Penny Arcade vintage. The fall floral print accented the multiple patterns and colours in the skirt and provided a subdued background to show off my New Kid boots and my Mr. Bone Mailman bag from Auckland handbag brand Deadly Ponies.

As usual, my mothers jewellery from the 60s layered up with a thrifted 90’s quartz stone, strung onto one of my Tiffany chains, made for an excellent collar party delicate, but not overpowering on the silk. I threw on my vintage stone leather jacket for warmth and Barbara Atkin’s was my auntie for the evening!

The church just a block away from the tents made for the perfect gothic backdrop for these photos. Take a look at a few below.
