What I Wore: The Holiday Glitz

Street Style Hawley Dunbar Holiday Glitz Profile

It’s that time of year when the jewel tones start to come out everywhere and everything you have that shimmers in your closet gets newfound consideration. I’ve always been a sucker for brocades, because they have another level of texture and dimension that a normal print just seems to lack at the holidays.

I created this look around a fun brocade J. Crew dress in my wardrobe that I altered slightly to better suit my figure. It was, at first quite a long dress, interestingly designed with a ruffle at the bottom. So wrong for me, more suited to a model fit bod. By eliminating a big chunk of the fabric in the middle of the dress, taking advantage of the pleats at the bottom, I turned it from an unwearable piece into a more traditional holiday look.

I paired it with a few of my favorite go-to’s of the season including my favourite coat of the season, also from J.Crew Collection made from Harris Tweed in a classic camel colour, as well as my Deadly Ponies Mr. Pirouette bag, a strand of simple gold pearls, a pair of Moscot shades, and my Burberry ear muffs.

I fully believe that shoes are such an important way to complete a holiday look (they can really make or break your look), so to top off this ensemble I chose these incredible Sophia Webster pumps which she collaborated with J.Crew on for the holidays. They come with all the holiday glam, that makes you feel as if you have superpowers, even if you’re freezing in order to pull them off. I love the delicate muted polka dot pattern on these Pippa pumps and the tassel tie is just the cherry on top.

Take a closer look the details of my holiday look below now.
