There are exactly 38 days to Coachella and admittedly, I’ve been spending a little more time than normal dreaming about getting dressed for this years festival season. This year we’ll be heading down to Coachella with the H&M crew sporting the H&M Loves Coachella which you can pick up in stores starting March 19th.
Have you ever packed for a trip to a warmer climate in the dead of winter before? It’s not an easy task to get your head around putting on a bikini when you’re used to layering up in cashmere and wool. To help celebrate the launch of the collection in stores and get your festival style wheels turning, we got our hands on a few pieces ahead of the launch to give you a little bit of inspiration.
I’ve been dressing for festival season every year now for over ten years, and I’m excited to share a few of my favourite things to wear as well as a few tips and tricks with you!
My number one must-have when dressing for a hot day in the festival sun is to keep cool and comfortable (you’re not going to look or feel chic unless you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing). Take your hair into consideration here too; it’s hot out there and you’re going to want to keep your hair off your shoulders. Unless you’re going for that messy hair thing, one of my favourite ways to style my hair at a festival is to braid it.
Layers are also important so you have something to keep the sun off your shoulders during the day and create an extra layer of warmth after sunset when temperatures drop. I love the white crocheted jacket in the H&M Loves Coachella collection because of it’s chic flower child vibes, but a vintage jean jacket works well too.
Finally, footwear. If you’re going to Coachella, boots and flatform sandals are the way to go. You’ll stay clean and dry, unlike those girls in strappy gladiators covered in sand, and you’ll be more comfortable with lots of cushioning.
