As urban-dwelling human beings, we all understand and appreciate the importance of your identifying your place in the world. Whether it comes in the form of your country, city or nieghbourhood. Whether you are throwing up dubs (that’s slang for W) or shooting your love for “the 6”, we all take a little pride in being part of a bigger collective whole. For me, that’s Toronto, the place I was born and raised (specifically downtown, eastside, Regent Park). So to celebrate the pride I have for my city, my hood, I decided to hit the streets of downtown Toronto in my most literal outfit.
Starting from the top down, I grabbed the limited edition OVO Downtown snapback, to make sure my message was loud and clear. Over the eyes, my go-to and always classic (prescription) Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses. For the midsection, I wore pieces from the adidas Originals x Neighborhood spring/summer 2015 collection in the form of a black t-shirt and grey/black hoodie. These pieces were definitely some of the standout ones from the collection, with bold collaborative graphics and fine minute detailing. On the legs, I couldn’t resist a crisp pair of Rag & Bone denim jeans. There is nothing I love more than breaking in a fresh pair of well-made Japanese denim, and New York’s Rag & Bone does it right every time. To round out the look, a grabbed a pair of ‘Haze’ coloured adidas Supercolor sneakers, from the recently released Pharrell Williams collaboration. Okay, maybe I took the notion of hoods a little too serious, but the outfit clearly works. It’s about the nuances.
