We’ve all been there – standing awkwardly at the cash, fishing for that points card you know is hiding somewhere in your wallet, or digging around for a $20.

Plastic cards, cash, and coin are out. Meet Samsung Pay, the best way to cash out on your Galaxy device. Digital wallets are where it’s at and Samsung Pay is one of the best mobile payment systems out there – with even more bank partners now onboard in Canada.

Available in Canada through Samsung Apps Galaxy Store, Samsung Pay works with a majority of our favourite Galaxy smartphones including Galaxy Note8; Galaxy S8 and S8+; Galaxy S7 and S7 edge; Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+; Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy A5. We used our Galaxy Note8 to check it out.

Using Near Field Communication (NFC) and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology, Samsung Pay makes payment secure and easy. MST mimics the physical swipe of a credit card, and uses tokenization, which creates a unique identifier for processing the transaction to ensure you don’t have to worry about your credit card being compromised. It’s pretty neat.

Setting up Samsung Pay is also incredibly easy. All you have to do is simply download Samsung Pay on your Galaxy phone, sign in to your Samsung account, then scan and authenticate your credit, debit and loyalty cards. The app is compatible with almost any POS system in Canada and works with popular financial partners including CIBC, Interac Debit, Scotiabank, American Express Canada, ATB Financial, Visa Canada and MasterCard.

When making a transaction, just swipe up, scan your fingerprint or put in your PIN (you can even scan your iris on certain devices) and tap. It couldn’t be easier to use. And, by using three different levels of security, Samsung Pay ensures your payments are more secure. Payments can’t be made without your fingerprint or PIN, so you don’t need to worry about losing your phone.

We’ve used it to pay for brunch, a quick LCBO run on Friday night, and two tickets to see The Last Jedi over the weekend, and trust us, it’s made things a whole lot smoother and simpler. To learn more about Samsung Pay, head here.
