Whoa! Striking while the proverbial iron is hot, Tyler, the Creator just tweeted a video link announcing that he and Converse have a new collaborative partnership. The video features Tyler in an interrogation room talking about his “relationship” with Converse while cutting to many scenes of him and the Golf Wang crew going about their daily lives of destruction rocking One Stars.
The partnership with Tyler will definitely help Converse legitimize their presence in the youth/skateboarding space by bringing his always provocative vision to the brand. Tyler will lend his design sensibilities and imagination to a number of collaborations with Converse, the first of which will be with Converse’s iconic One Star silhouette. Debuting tomorrow, July 11th, 2017, the limited-edition sneaker will come in an exclusive light blue, Clearwater colourway, which was handpicked by Tyler. The shoe will also feature a one-of-kind graphic on the sock liner, designed by the rapper.
To kick off the partnership, 2,100 of Tyler’s fans worldwide who attended last year’s Tyler’s Golf Wang Fashion Show will receive a pair of the limited-edition One Star in a special box and note from Tyler.
A limited number of the One Star sneakers will also be available beginning July 13th on Tyler’s site, GolfWang.com, and on Converse.com for $100 USD.
