Throughout June, NYC will be home to Art is New York / New York is Art, an art project by The Tribeca Festival and CHANEL, presented by AT&T. The outdoor galleries will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Tribeca Festival Art Awards by showcasing 60+ artists who will transform storefronts and streetscapes across NYC.

Doodles pictured above by artists Elizabeth Colomba (L) and Chuck D (R)The contributors, both past and present Art Award artists, created an original sketch inspired by the relationship between art and New York, as well as the rebirth of the city following the pandemic. Some of the participating artists include Julian Schnabel, Kiki Smith, Nate Lowman, Swoon, Chuck D, Matthew Modine, Christopher Walken, Donna Ferrato, Aurel Schmidt, Kalup Linzy, Don Gummer, Sophie Matisse, Dustin Yellin and many more.

The project also released a short film, featuring Julian Schnabel, Donna Ferrato, and Chuck D, which looks at the power of art and strength of the city. Visit tribecafilm.com/festival/art2021 for a full list of the contributing art, as well as the 2021 Art Awards collection.
