Travel | Hôtel Chez Swann, Montreal

We had the great pleasure of enjoying the ultra chic atmosphere at Montreal’s Hôtel Chez Swann this summer during the 2011 Osheaga Music Festival, staying in one of the boutique hotel’s 23 rooms which overlook one of downtown Montreal’s most coveted areas.

Just steps from Holt Renfrew, Nespresso Boutique Bar, Oglivy, Suite 88 Chocolatier, and Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, we felt right at home in the neighbourhood, not to mention in our fabulous suite. Welcomed by the modern hallway leading up to the industrial front desk complete with attentive front-of-house staff, and later, by a lovely box of chocolates from Suite 88 with a hand written note from the hotels owner.

We were invited and intrigued by the suite’s eccentric design elements like the intricate glass chandelier, curtained skylight, wooden block side tables, a matching imperfect tree stump coffee table atop a shaggy grass-like area rug complimented by a comfy wing back chair and sofa.

The bathroom was equally well designed with a geometric double sink, and walk-in peek-a-boo shower with two rainfall shower heads and cheeky red curtains drawn facing outward into the suite. As if we weren’t already basically dying at how incredible this place was, the room also had two flat screen televisions (one facing the bed and the other in the seating area), an iHome alarm clock, a roomy desk, and a luxurious bay window lounge area overlooking the busy intersection of Maisonneuve and Drummond.

Just down the hall on each floor, a door decalled with “You Spin Me Round” lyrics from British band Dead or Alive, led into a room with four top-of-the-line stationary bikes, handy bottled water, and a television. We were met each morning with complimentary Nespresso and assorted French pastries in the lobby, which primed us perfectly for each day in the sun at the festival.

It was so lovely to come back to the supremely comfortable bed each night and discover and enjoy all the hotels complimentary elements and objects designed by local artists.

We can’t recommend this stunning exclusive hotel enough for festival going next year and it’s conveniently located at a metro station conveniently on the way to Parc Jean-Drapeau, where the festival is held each year.
