Pop fans have been eager to hear Tove Lo’s follow up to “Talking Bodies” and went bonkers a few weeks ago when she teased a new track. Now she’s back with “Cool Girl,” an infectious little banger. The track is very on brand for Tove Lo who is yet again singing about a casual hookup, but this time she’s assuring herself she can keep it together:
“I’m a, I’m a – I’m a cool girl, I’m a, I’m a cool girl/ Ice cold, I roll my eyes at you boy”
She sounds like a scratched record in the chorus, but as we all know, the Swedes always manage to make magic with a “less is more” approach when it comes to pop music. Where the lyrics lack (since when did great lyrics matter for earworms?), the woozy production is top notch. Well done, Tove Lo.
