On the final night of Toronto Fashion Week we were thrilled to make it out to see both VAWKKIN and VAWK collections for the spring summer 2013 season, accented by exclusive handmade pieces by Toronto-based jewelry designers Niki & Lola.
VAWKIN, in terms of vibe, was all business. With expertly tailored suits, shift dresses, and silk button downs, in wearable mixable black and white, perfectly colour blocked. Appealing to women of every shape and age, the collection included a plus size look, and featured a (rather ripped) older women too.
VAWK was all about sexy hemlines, drama, and pushing the envelope. Starting off with a super hot black leather cut-out dress, the collection became more feminine with each look that faded into cream, taupe, plum, and ruby red. It was nice to see designer Sunny Fong’s use of colour in VAWK this season, as he’s known for showing predominantly black looks each season.
Inspired by strong women like Madonna and Frida Kahlo, stand out looks of the collection were a graphic print one-piece bathing suit (so happy he decided to do some swimwear!) covered with a red blazer and handmade Niki & Lola gold floral crown with red stamens, as well as a plum fringed dress with sexy cut outs at the hips, and an oh-so material girl pointy gold bra, custom made by Niki & Lola for the collection, paired with tailored flap pocket pants.
Take a look at some of our photos from both VAWK and VAWKKIN below.
