We’re just a few days away from every tequila drinker’s favourite day, Cinco de Mayo. To help celebrate, Espolòn® Tequila has teamed up with local streetwear brands, Toronto-based PARANOID® and Vancouver-based Vancity Original®, to launch a limited-edition capsule collection. The collection features custom-made apparel inspired by traditional Mexican heritage and Canadian urban street culture and includes sweatshirts, t-shirts, long sleeves and hats. A limited number of free pieces will be available to the public at this link on May 5th at 12:00pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) while supplies last.

To kick off the creative process for designing the collection, Vancity Original and PARANOID joined Espolòn Tequila on an immersive trip to Mexico. The two Canadian brands went to Mexico City and Aguascalientes, the hometown of José Guadalupe Posada, a 19th-century artist whose iconic and revolutionary work inspired the Espolòn Tequila label artwork. It goes without saying that the creative energy from the trip helped both Vancity Original and PARANOID create their distinct Cinco de Mayo streetwear collections.

“We had a blast working with Espolòn to develop a collection that pulls together modern aspects of Mexican culture and historical influences,” said Caleb Cooper and Matthew Chrones Scott, co-founders and designers at PARANOID. “Everyone has that one T-shirt they love the most, and we can’t wait for this new collection to be someone’s new favourite.”

The final designs from both brands are a fun blend of colour, pride, and thought-provoking art that captures the uniqueness of the Espolòn brand, known for channelling modern Mexico while honouring the tradition of craftsmanship and culture.

“I’ve always had a bottle of Espolòn in my home bar, so I was excited when Espolòn reached out for a partnership. We had a great time working with Espolòn to create this collection that fuses urban lifestyle with an homage to Mexican heritage, artwork, and streetwear,” said Jeff Martin, aka Mister Martini of Vancity Original. “We are looking forward to seeing people celebrating with us and seeing the collection as wearable pieces of art.”

In addition to the online drop, a limited selection of the complementary pieces will be available in-store at Vancity and PARANOID on May 5th for walk-ins on a first-come, first-serve basis.
