Ting Tings Signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and Snag Rihanna for Debut

I like to think of myself as pretty well informed, you know, finger on the pulse and all, so you can imagine my surprise when I found out that UK dance pop duo the Ting Tings have signed with Jay-Z’s new Roc Nation imprint. When I read this I was a tidbit flabbergasted, a recognizable hip hop label signing an overtly electro pop band, does seem odd to say the least . However, when you consider that the recently Grammy nominated Ting Ting’s, best known for their unstoppable single “Shut Up and Let Me Go,”does come off like a solid investment for Jay-Z, whose plan for world domination is well on track. The Ting Tings’ debut record, We Started Nothing, has managed to move 1.2 million copies worldwide, so couple that with Jay-Z’s incredible Rolodex of the music worlds whose who, a recently announced appearance of Rihanna on the record, and you got as sophomore album guaranteed to become a household name… hopefully. Checkout the video for “Shut Up and Let Me Go” below, to see what it is I am talking about.
