A new retrospective exhibition on fashion designer Anna Sui has just opened at London’s Fashion and Textile Museum.
The exhibit is the first of its kind for an American designer in the U.K. More than 125 outfits from Sui’s archive are on display, complete with the accessories they were paired with on the runway. Curator Dennis Nothdruft has arranged the looks by theme rather than chronologically, bringing to light Sui’s most common sources of inspiration, including punk, Americana, Victorian and school girl.
Speaking to ELLE about the exhibit Sui has said:
“We haven’t put those outfits together since they were shown. It’s incredible and it’s very rewarding to have the opportunity to have this reflection.”
The World of Anna Sui will be on display at London’s Fashion and Textile Museum until October 1. Visit the museum’s official website for more information.
