There are so many things we do in our everyday lives to stay healthy, between eating right, exercising, therapy, and of course taking care of your teeth. It might seem like a pretty mundane act when you’re doing it, but brushing your teeth can really affect your overall health, especially if you’re not doing it right.

We recently made the switch over to the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected and were surprised to find we weren’t doing as good a job brushing as we thought we were! A toothbrush with Bluetooth?! This is one mighty advanced piece of technology!

Through the FlexCare Platinum Connected’s Bluetooth wireless technology, paired to the Philips Sonicare app, we were able to see right away, after only a couple brushings, we were missing parts of the mouth, favouring certain areas, and moving the brush around too much for a complete clean.

Quickly hoping to correct our technique, we explored the app and found that the brush actually tracks even the smallest detail when we brush including pressure, location, movement, and technique through three built-in sensors.

Right away we were able to address the problem areas with the AdaptiveClean Brush Head and felt better each time we brushed with the feedback we gained and tracked through the app. Even though it’s sometimes a bit finicky to pair the device to the app, we felt more inclined to floss following brushing as well as clean our tongue because of the post brush prompts. We quickly learned accountability is the key to success.

According to Philips, the FlexCare Platinum Connected cleans 10 times more plaque and results in better gum health than a manual toothbrush, using an AdaptiveClean Brush head with rubberized sides to absorb excessive pressure on your gums. Additionally, the FlexCare Platinum Connected offers a Customized Brushing System that includes three brushing modes and three levels of intensity, making nine different brushing experiences possible to really achieve and target every part of your mouth. Plus, you can also set up a daily goal with the Philips Sonicare app so you can track your progress!

Over the next few months we’ll be continuing to brush with FlexCare Platinum Connected and improve techniques, but also head into the dentist for that final level of approval.
