Over the last couple of days I have been in a rock sort of mood. Sifting through my extensive collection both on iTunes and CD’s to find the tracks that impacted me and changed my life, from a rock perspective of course. From the Beatles, Hendrix, the Stones, Lynard Skynard, to my modern loves Queens of the Stone Age, Spoon, Bloc Party, and the list goes one. I told a friend about my recent foray into my rock roots, and she suggested I check out a Canadian band by the name of the Fed Pennies. I did, and I have to say… not bad. The Fed Pennies, seem to take their influence from the same various genres of rock, punk, garage and alternative that I was listening too and are backed with solid melodies, disenchanted lyrics and playfully angry bass lines. Now I am not sure if she works in PR (actually she does), but the timing of this suggestion was way to on point, as my musical A.D.D. was looking for something like this. Further to her coincidental PR intuition the Fed Pennies are creating a solid buzz they currently have a track “Buzzing in my Head” featured on the new and official SEGA ‘Vancouver 2010’ Olympic video game. Talk about timing!!
Check them out at their myspace to give their recently re-released album Brain Disaster a listen.
