The magic continued on the second day of the shOws at Andrew Richard Designs with collections by Tanya Tayor, Steven Tai, and Jeremy Laing for the fall winter 2013 season.
Beginning with Tanya Taylor’s fall winter presentation, seen earlier this year during New York Fashion Week, which focused on mod menswear inspired pieces with a prim feminine twist that at time reminded us of Band Of Outsiders (because of all the amazing coats!). Utilizing textiles sourced from a old German textile factory in New York the collections stand out pieces were a collegiate burgundy quilted wool bomber jacket, crinkly rose gold lamé moto zip up, electric blue suit with a poppin white collar, and an oversized plaid jacket.
Next up was self-professed fashion nerd Steven Tai’s highly technical, yet ultra cool and casual collection of ready to wear garments for fall winter 2013. Sporting platformed sneakers models dressed in lose structured touched with specially created touches of silicone walked the runway positively oozing cool. Primary punches of yellow and orange punctuated the collection which often leaned onto crisp white and navy as a base for the palette. Our favourite pieces were without a doubt every single crew-neck sweater both styles of the quilted silicone jackets. Following the presentation, we got to see a rather fascinating collection he designed for his graduation at Central St. Martins and won the Hyeres Award.
Last but not least the room was packed to the gunnels to see Jeremy Laing’s fall winter collection which debuted at New York Fashion Week last month. Minimal as ever and easy to layer up, Laing showed printed and plain silk chiffon in a myriad of styles, lumpy wool yarn coats with leather sleeves, brown cotton seersucker jackets, skirts and pants roller printed with metallic gold foil. One of the prints was adapted from a painting a friend did, which he took and digitally printed onto pants, blouses, and draped dresses wrapped and layered throughout the collection.
