Few other sneaker boutiques have stayed as culturally relevant and noteworthy as Montreal’s Off The Hook. A one-stop-shop since 1999, sneaker heads flock to 1021 St. Catherines O. for the rarest, weirdest and limited edition kicks you can’t BOGO at Footlocker. The only retailer with a coveted Vans partnership, it’s no surprise that OTH is a hotbed for street culture, art, design, fashion and of course, sneakers. Nestled in the concrete jungle of downtown Montreal’s commercial artery, I caught up with OTH’s shoe buyer, Graeme Anthony.
Take it from a sneaker collector with a “comfortable 200” who’s old enough to remember what it meant to be a sneakerhead before the internet, “Choosing the right pair of sneakers for the shop isn’t about what’s hot or cool, it needs to fit the OTH DNA.” That means quality, style, and damn good taste. Now in the wake of Yeezy madness, buying habits are changing, and Graeme is staying ahead of the hype with products that push customers to think beyond the mainstream classics.
