Brooklyn’s latest flavour du jour (by way of Long Island), Small Black continue in the similar fuzzy shoe-gazing vein that’s been running through a lot of new music this summer.
As they prepare to drop their inaugural album the hype surrounding it continues to thicken. We finally gave it a listen expecting disappointment but instead were surprisingly dazzled by the chilled out low-fi tracks best enjoyed on vinyl.
It’s pretty electronic and ambient for chillwave at times with elegant little balanced synths shining through reminiscent of Animal Collective, The Cure, and Neon Indian.
Due out on October 26th via Jagjauwar, check out the video for “Bad Lover” and the first single “Photojournalist” from their upcoming album New Chain.
