Last month saw the opening of Original Penguin’s first ever Canadian shop following hot in the tracks of the new Ben Sherman shop, just a few doors down on Toronto’s trendy Queen West.
Just steps away from Trinity Bellwoods Park, the refreshingly modern store front has brought the neighbourhood its stylish vintage inspired sportswear with a heavy dose of polished Americana seen in silver bowling cups and pins, vintage cameras and radios, leather bound books, and vintage wallpaper that spread across the store. Until now, you might have only found Penguin apparel in Toronto at shops like the Bay and Sporting Life, but now their full collection is available in one convenient location with women’s wear launching this fall.
From refined casual suits, pants, and button downs, to the more urban high tops and hoodies, the collection extends into accessories like hats, belts, and bags, not to mention their signature Munsingwear golf shirt created back at the brands inception by Abbot Penderson. Stand out items in the shop for fall are the vibrant red and emerald chambray button downs, a flecked hooded cable knit pull over, and a couple of excellently made leather lace ups that nod to the brands roots in sportswear.
