Samsung recently released four(!) new affordable smartphones: the Samsung Galaxy A71 and the Samsung Galaxy A51, in addition to the Samsung Galaxy A21 and the Samsung Galaxy A11. The A series has been around for years now, and the latest launches really hone in on advanced technology that is accessible for all. That means they’re industry-leading and awesome for everyone.
We took both Galaxy A Series devices for a spin this past weekend at the cottage and captured some pretty breathtaking shots. Photos of the dark blue lake contrasted against vibrant green lily pads, and of sunsets so intense you feel as though they could last forever. Not to mention watching our latest TV binge under the covers at night. Not only were we impressed with the streaming quality, but battery life was also less of a concern thanks to the Galaxy A Series commitment to long-last battery life[1]. Check and double check! Both the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 delivered, providing real-life colour and vivid performance on screen.
Most notably, both the Galaxy A71 and A51 devices feature Super AMOLED Infinity-O display. Breaking down the tech jargon, this translates to unbelievable, real-life colour. It’s bright, it’s vivid, and you better believe its high resolution. With a large display and minimal bezels to maximize every inch of screen space (6.7” on the A71[2] and 6.5” on the A51[3]), you can see more of what you love with the Galaxy A series. The devices also offer high resolution gaming with crisp on-screen details, high-quality streaming of all your favourite content, and crystal-clear Instagram views that will make you think your friends are standing in front of you. Add in a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds+ and you can immerse yourself in your favourite content thanks to its 2-way speakers, 3 mics for superb sound, and incredibly long battery life[4]. Best of all, Galaxy Buds+ are part of the Samsung Galaxy Ecosystem, resulting in seamless integration with your Galaxy A Series device.
Let’s get into what makes the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51’s camera so dynamic. And by camera, we mean five cameras. In addition to the main camera, there’s the front, Ultra Wide, Macro and Depth cameras.
With a 64MP camera on the Galaxy A71 and a 48MP camera on the Galaxy A51, you have all the tools you need to take awesome photos – day or night. If you’re looking to capture the breathtaking city skyline at sunrise, the 12MP Ultra Wide camera is ideal for the task. It has a 123-degree angle of view which means you can capture more of the city in a single shot. For a close up of your latest mani (hello, at-home nail art), the 5MP Macro camera gives you clarity and quality while bringing out those ultra-fine details. AND you can count on your pictures looking extra professional with the 5MP Depth camera thanks to Live Focus which automatically reduces unwanted background noise to make your photos pop. If capturing a stunning selfie is what you’re after, the Galaxy A series feature an impressive 32MP front camera that delivers there too.
If video is more your passion, the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 have what you need to make expert-looking clips. Both devices feature Super Steady Video which automatically stabilizes footage[5] to create sleek and smooth clips. We played around with it to capture the perfect, super-slow-motion cannonball off the dock and the stabilizer, in particular, helped elevate the footage. Like all Samsung Galaxy smartphones, the interface is incredibly easy to use as is playing around with the light settings.
While you’re busy producing these pro clips, we highly recommend adding Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 to your wish list. Think of it as a smart assistant that helps you stay connected throughout the day whether you get texts, emails or calendar alerts. You can even stay on top of your social media game with the ability to scroll and react to posts directly from your smartwatch!
Storing all that footage isn’t difficult either as the Galaxy A51 offers 64GB of internal storage and the Galaxy A71 offers even more internal storage at 128GB. You can even slot in an additional Micro SD for up to 512GB[6] of storage so you don’t have to make compromises when it comes to keeping or deleting your files.
And finally, arguably one of the most important features of any phone is the battery life. Samsung has gone to great lengths to improve battery life on both the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51. The Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 feature 4,500 mAh (typical)[7]and 4,000 mAh (typical)[8] batteries, respectively, which means they can last through everything you do[9] in a day whether it is gaming, streaming, or watching your favourite show. And if you happen to run out, both devices come with fast-charging capabilities so you don’t have to stress if you’re going particularly hard on a given day. Both the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 lasted nearly the entire cottage weekend during our little test run, which, as heavy digital users, was surprising for us.
All in all, here’s our take: both the Samsung Galaxy A71 and Samsung Galaxy A51 have incredible new features, the modern aesthetic Samsung is known for and pricing that comes in well under budget. Stunning display for entertainment, five incredible cameras, expandable storage and an amazing battery life positions the Galaxy A Series as the ‘it’ devices at a great price point. Looks like ‘A’ really is for awesome.
